Possible scam warning from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service

Posted 14/11/2016 10:01:15

Please be mindful of a possible scam involving a call being made from someone claiming they work for the fire and rescue service selling smoke alarms to residents in North Wales.

Stuart Millington, Senior Fire Safety Manager, said: “We have been made aware by a number of people who have been approached by someone claiming to work for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service who is attempting to sell smoke alarms.

"North Wales Fire and Rescue Service offer a free home safety check where a member of staff will visit your property and install smoke alarms where necessary. This service is completely free and we do not charge. Our staff will be in uniform and will carry identification cards with them at all times.

"I would like to remind people to be vigilant and to contact Trading Standards if they receive a similar call."
