The fire at a nursing home in Trefnant, near Denbigh is now under control and crews are working to ensure no further fire spread.

A total of six crews of firefighters from St Asaph, Rhyl, Denbigh, Abergele and Prestatyn and the Aerial Ladder Platform and Incident Command Unit from Rhyl were at the scene tackling the fire using breathing apparatus, hose reels and main jets after being notified of the fire at 17.36hrs today (Monday December 16).

The fire predominantly affected the roof space of the building and an investigation into the cause of the fire will commence.

All 31 residents were evacuated safely from the building.

Staff from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are working closely with colleagues from the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust to source alternative overnight accommodation for the residents.
