Firefighter Taster Day

We want people like YOU to join our team

The role of a modern day firefighter is challenging, rewarding and most of all varied.

We want a workforce that reflects the diversity of our community, and which in turn helps to deliver the best possible fire and rescue service to the people of North Wales.

This is why we’re encouraging individuals from under-represented groups to consider a career as a Firefighter. Under-represented groups within the current workforce are women, black and ethnic minorities and individuals from the LGBT community.

Register for our free Firefighter Taster day - there is no such thing as a typical firefighter.

Not sure a career as a full-time firefighter could be for you?

Find out by attending our Firefighter Taster Day:

Date:                    Saturday 18th May 2019

Time:                    9.30am – 4.30pm

Location:             Rhyl Community Fire Station

The Service cannot allow candidates who are part of the ongoing Whole-time/Full-time firefighter recruitment and selection process to attend this Taster Day.

This Taster Day is not an opportunity to be fast-tracked or given an advantage over any other groups of people. All applicants for vacancies must go through the same recruitment process and must achieve the same level in any tests/assessments. Any offer of employment must be made on merit.

You will have a full insight into the role and the requirements and an opportunity to test your fitness and strength against the national firefighter standards

You will be able to talk to members of the recruitment team and firefighters who do the job now

You will get to look around the fire station, appliances, equipment and try on the kit

Lunch will be provided

We want to ensure potential applicants make informed decisions about a career as a firefighter and reduce the amount of people who may de-select themselves based on misconceptions, old stereotypes or myths.

You must be aged 18 or over (there is no upper age limit) to attend.
