Joining in promoting National Carers Week

Posted

Staff from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service will be out in support of National Carers Week this week - with the focus on creating Carer Friendly Communities and raising awareness of the work done by carers all across the country.

Three in five of us are likely to be carers in our lifetime and this campaign aims to ensure the community has an understanding of the work carers do, their daily reality and how it is possible to aid and assist carers and their needs.

As our population ages and people live longer, more and more of us will be called upon to care for an older, disabled or seriously ill loved one, with estimates that by 2037 there will be 9 million carers in the UK.

Caring can be a fulfilling and positive experience, but caring without support can also have a negative effect on someone's health, career, relationships and they may lose the ability to live a life of their own outside their caring role.

Fire and rescue service staff from Wrexham and Flintshire will be joining NEWCIS to promote National Carers Week and raise awareness around dementia on Wednesday 10th June between 10am and 4pm at the Daniel Owen Centre in Mold.
