Education

Education

Our community safety educationalists visit every primary and secondary school in North Wales to educate children about fire safety.

We are currently targeting year 2 and year 5 in primary schools and year 7 in secondary schools.

With year 2 we discuss the dangers of touching matches with the use of our Sbarc story. With year 5 we discuss the need for smoke alarms and escape plans. With year 7 we discuss electrical safety with particular emphasis on charging electrical equipment.

If you would like to receive a visit please contact Gwawr Williams or Emma Burnet.

Sbarc is the mascot for the fire and rescue services in Wales. Sbarc is used to educate children and young people about fire safety and also appears on our promotional items.

Crucial crew is an educational scheme aimed at year 7 pupils. It is a multi agency approach that aims to educate pupils about  how to stay safe in various situations. These agencies include : North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, North Wales Police, Women’s Aid, RNLI, British Transport Police, Network Rail, St John’s Ambulance and young Carers. The groups of pupils rotate from one agency to another spending about 30 minutes with each agency.
